There Is a Green Hill Far Away - SATB

  • There Is a Green Hill Far Away

This lovely and powerful arrangement of the favorite hymn, There Is a Green Hill Far Away, takes the hymn from its original 4/4 meter and places it in a flowing and touching 3/4 meter. When you hear the piece done this way, you might not want to go back to the original! This arrangement works equally well with organ or piano accompaniment and is a must have for your choir. A wonderful addition to your Easter repertoire, or any time you want to focus on the atonement of the Savior.

    Text: Cecil Frances Alexander
Music: John H. Gower, arr. by Cathy Neff (ASCAP)

There is a green hill far away,
    Without a city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified,
Who died to save us all.

We may not know, we cannot tell,
What pains He had to bear,
But we believe it was for us
    He hung and suffered there.

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin.
He only could unlock the gate
Of heav'n and let us in.

Oh, dearly, dearly has He loved!
And we must love Him, too,
And trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do.

And try His works to do.
